“I take such pride in my clients and like to build relationships that will last a lifetime.”
– Laura Colangelo
Over the years, you have gained a lot of industry experience and knowledge. What is it like to work with your favorite vendors and what have your learned from this experience?
Two of my favorite vendors that I have visited are Dea and Celso. I learned that purchasing the best cotton fibers in the world, along with pride, and passion, create the most beautiful products. Both of these companies are family run companies. They want to be here for generations and generations to come. Therefore, the carbon footprint is important to them, the craftsmanship, the details…all of it is so important.
Additionally, both of these companies believe in staying small so they can focus on each and every detail. They believe in relationships, slowing down, and presenting the end consumer their dream bedding. Something that will last them a lifetime. It has taught me to slow down and appreciate the details each person has provided to make the most beautiful end product.
You have a diverse range of clients with beautiful homes and adventurous lifestyles.
What do you enjoy most about working on larger scale projects?
I love participating in large scale projects. Especially when they are photographed and
featured in Colorado magazines, or Architectural Digest issues. Each project is
different, and that is what keeps my job exciting. I never create a bed twice. Each client
has their own specific one of a kind primary bedroom, guest bedrooms, kid’s bedrooms,
study, living spaces and so on.
What line do you like to work with for more detailed projects?
I really like custom embroidery projects made by the Ladies at Dea in Italy. When you work with Dea, you are able to choose the specific base fabric to be embroidered on, the embroidery style, color, hemstitch, really every detail is
taken to the highest levels of perfection.
A lot of the projects Dea works on are for royalty, so they have an extensive variety to choose from, to make each person’s project one to remember.
Learn about Laura’s top three favorite products!
1. My Emerald Down Sleeping Pillows and Emerald Down Comforters are a must on my bed. The comforter is so lightweight that it makes for such a good night’s sleep.
2. It is hard to choose my favorite sheet, as The Brass Bed carries the most fantastic
sheets you will ever sleep on. Currently, The Celso Estrela Percale Sheets are my go to. On nice weather days, I like to give them a cold wash with our delicate detergent, Linen Wash by Leblanc, and line dry
them outside. Nothing is better. Buying the best is such a luxury, but how linens are cared for is just as important.
3. Cashmere, cashmere , cashmere. My king size cashmere blankets are dreamy! And perfect for colder nights. The one I use is by an Italian company called CO.BI Cashmere, available to shop in person at The Brass Bed in our Denver and Boulder locations.
On my kid’s beds, they love Dream Modal blankets from Matouk, as they are washable and so cozy, It’s nice to read a book with them in bed, as they have all the luxuries I enjoy on their bed as well.
